Musician & Title Track CEO
The Old Art Building is a pillar of the community, serving not only Leland, but the whole region, and folks from all over the world who travel and vacation here. In two decades of national and international touring, the Old Art Building remains one of my very favorite venues to perform in.
Singer & Songwriter
As a touring musician, there are those venues that stick with us, that jump out of the never- ending parade of gigs and make us grateful to do what we do. For me, the Old Art Building is one of those.
Nancy & Berkley Duck
The OAB embodies the essence of Leland as a small, northern Michigan community dedicated to providing a high quality of life for its residents while preserving its historic look and feel. It is the anchor of our “cultural complex.”
Fiber Artist & Physician
The Old Art Building embodies community and art. Community and art feed the soul, and who are we without that indefinable part of us that we call the soul? Community and art make us human.
As a working artist I find the Leelanau Community Cultural Center provides a great service to me and to the public in general.
The Old Art Building is a place where culture is championed and artistic ideas are nurtured: a place where everyday community life entwines with a vital arts and humanities hub and center.
Holly Wren Spaulding
Artists need space and time to think, iterate and make new work. Artists need opportunities to meet and interact with the public, have conversations, give talks, and in my case, teach. We need the support of organizations that believe in what we do, and include us in their mission and budget, and who introduce us to their community of friends and patrons.
Since my retirement, now many years ago, the people and activities at the Old Art Building in Leland have become my second family. The OAB is a place where I always feel welcome, a place that connects me with my community by putting me in contact with individuals and groups of similar inclinations.
Realtor & Dance Instructor
The Old Art Building was a second home to me during my childhood, as I spent hours and hours at dance class, rehearsals and performances held in its historic beauty. To me, the OAB is the heartbeat of Leland where community joins for the arts, continuing education and social gatherings.
