A folk-inspired concert retelling of the age-old classic tale. Woven through with readings of Charles Dickens’ own words, Steve Clark’s original songs breathe new life into Ebenezer’s tale, inspiring love, friendship, and a generous holiday spirit.

Chicago transplant singer-songwriter, Steve Clark moved to the area in 2016 and immediately started networking with area musicians. The Stone Fruit Collective is a group of multi-instrumental musicians who combine in different ways, playing a variety of styles throughout the area. Steve Clark has written a number of full story-based productions. The Haunting of Old Ebenezer premiered in Chicago in 2012 and returns to northern Michigan after a sell-out run in Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties in 2022.

Song & Story Series

Presented in partnership with 4 community performance groups Manitou Winds, Traverse City Opera, Traverse Symphony Orchestra and The Stonefruit Collective, Song & Story will hold three unique concerts that marry spoken word and music in unique ways.

Instrumental repertoire will merge with poetry, Opera will offer the added context of political and social dialogue and a folk-band will retell a tale from classic literature. The TSO will also be offering a related "Masterworks in Miniature" for Leland Public School as a part of this series.
