Every week, the historic Old Art Building in Leland comes alive with the sound of music during the cherished Open Acoustic Jam. This isn't just a practice session; it's a heartfelt community gathering where the shared love for acoustic music builds bridges across generations and skill levels.

For eight years, the OAB has provided a welcoming space for everyone, from seasoned pros to total beginners, to join the vibrant mix of pop standards, deep Blues, Classic Rock, improvisational Jazz, and traditional Bluegrass. All that's required is an acoustic instrument and the desire to connect. Entirely free for both musicians and listeners, the Jam acts as a vital "social magnet" for the Leland community, fostering connection, supporting skill growth, and contributing positively to mental well-being through creative expression. While it cozy's up indoors in the winter, the group moves outside in the summer, sharing their diverse sounds against a beautiful Carp River backdrop.

This powerful creative energy has even inspired a core group of musicians to produce an album of original music, and a special upcoming album release event. Leland Blues is made up of musicians Jim Redmond (Guitar, Vocals), Dan Lisuk (Guitar, Erectorine, Vocals), Greg McMorrow (Keyboard), Lance Huffer (Wooden Flute). Admission to the event is by donation, with 100% of the proceeds supporting the Old Art Building, ensuring this vital resource can continue to host the Open Acoustic Jam for years to come.
