The 6th Annual Clothesline Art Show and Sale features original work from our 2026 Old Art Building Plein Air Painters. These artists have met weekly since May to paint in various unique locations around Leelanau County.

Some of the artists will be on site to demonstrate plein air painting and answer questions about the group and their work. You are sure to recognize the beautiful locations represented, all chosen for variety of subject matter and experiences.

The group’s host and organizer, Martha Elchert, describes plein air as the artist capturing a moment in time that is influenced by all of the senses. “The sound of waves on the shore, the scent of flowers in the air, the hum of traffic or people talking, wind through the trees. These are all part of a finished plein air painting!"
