Please join cavegirl & ceramicist Katie Bramlage for an afternoon of meditative play. You will have the chance to "comb" her collection of fully fired textural and glazed ceramic pieces, learn a new and simple knotting technique and leave with your own ready to hang wall piece. She calls them totems and considers them a declaration of thanks to your cave, your home, your shelter from the storm and suggests you hang them up where you love to hangout. No two are ever the same. All are welcome, no skills needed.
Open to both kids and adults, the mini-totem workshop is the perfect challenge for your youngest creators. NOTE: Kids attending the workshop must be accompanied by an adult.
About Katie
Born and raised in the Great Lakes region, Katie has always collected stories, sticks, and stones. Imagining her work was found, humbled and tumbled through the ages. It's at this intersection of physical geology, interior design, and craft, that the idea of swept ashore cave decor comes to be. In 2011 she received her BFA with honors in Crafts - Ceramics from the College of Creative Studies and has since shown her work in a number of juried art fairs and gallery shows as well as led many workshops and taught her loose and lo-fi hand building style throughout the Metro Detroit area. Her work is currently produced in her home/studio in Hazel Park, MI and can be found online and in select galleries and retail locations.
Supplies
All supplies included. If students would like to bring their own driftwood, the instructor can drill a hole in it at the workshop.
