Join us for a conversation between Abra Berens, chef and author, and Alex Beggs, journalist and senior writer for Bon Appétit Magazine, as they talk about Abra’s new book.

Grist: A Practical Guide to Cooking Grains, Beans, Seeds and Legumes is Abra Berens' newest book. Like Ruffage before it, she wrote this book to continue to celebrate and demystify these pantry staples.

Abra and Alex will discuss Michigan’s agricultural and food community, what it’s like to work for the premier food magazine in the country, and why you maybe don’t need to soak beans after all.

This evening promises a lively and wide-ranging conversation with wine provided by Bel Lago Vineyards and Winery and copies of Grist available for sale. Advance tickets are $20 per person and are available at the Old Art Building website and in person at the Leland Township Library and the Old Art Building.

To ensure a safe event for all, tickets are limited and proof of vaccination will be required.
