myklDo you like to dance, make new friends, and stay active? Mykl makes it easy and fun. No worries if you have never taken a dance class before. Bring your friends and join us! For singles, partners will be provided. Swing and twirl to the music and join us at the Old Art Building on Tuesday Nights from 7-9, for a good time!

Partner Dance meets weekly for six weeks. During that time students will learn to dance the foxtrot, tango, waltz as well as several other dances. All levels welcome!!!

Mondays 8:20-9:20 am & Thursdays 8:20 – 9:20 am – Cardio STEP/Aerobics Class/Kathy Miller

This is a medium to high level cardio challenge structured to incorporate a warm-up, cool down and stretching, using high energy music.  This is targeted for people who like to be fit, enjoy a challenge, don’t mind getting their heart rate up. . .and sweating.

The cost is $8 per class with the first one being complimentary.  Wear comfortable clothing with good workout-type shoes (cross-trainers are best).

Instructor Jeanette Egeler is a Certified Personal Trainer, a National Exercise Training Association member, CPA/AED, and is the owner of the Northport Fitness Center.

Instructor Elisa Brabenec is a University of Colorado graduate. She has taught at Interlochen Arts Academy and was a founder/owner of Dance Arts Academy 1982-1997. She is the owner of Dance Leelanau and Dance Cooperative

Wednesday 8:30 – 9:30 am- Gentle Yoga/Kerry Satterwihite, CYT

Gentle Yoga is a restorative and healing yoga.  It includes slow, gentle standing and floor stretches and meditation for deep relaxation.  A gentle approach focuses on helping participants increase range of motion, improve posture and balance, restore flexibility and increase breath capacity.  Learn modification of poses and the use of props.

No prior yoga experience necessary.

$5 for seniors

$10 for drop in<60 years old

Kerry Satterwhite has been a student of Ashtanga, Bikram,Vinyasa and Yin styles of yoga.  She brings upbeat and thoughtful approach to her students with a mind toward the tangible benefits to the body, mind, and spirit.  In May 2009, Kerry completed her 200- level teacher training certification from Sandra Carden at Union/Yoga in Lake Leelanau.

Wednesdays, 3:30 – 5:00 pm -Tai Chi with Jane Hale

Tai Chi is a workout emphasizing balance, muscle strengthening, joint mobility, circulation, and a sensation of energy.

$15  per class

Jane Hale has been teaching Tai Chi for 25 years with many years at NMC and the Senior Center in Traverse City. Her specialty is working with beginners.
