Make them pretty, make them posh;
Make them quirky; make them quaint!

Turn cast-off and neglected chairs into works of art as a community art project and fundraiser to benefit scholarships and children’s programs at the Old Art Building. All ages and talents are welcome to participate.

How to participate:  Enter as an individual or group. Entry fee is $20 per chair, $10 for each additional chair by the same artist.  Entry options are as follows:

  • Keep your chair and it will be marked NFS.
  • Sell your chair for the 60/40% split with the OAB.
  • Donate your chair entirely

All chairs must be returned the week of August 6-10 (time and location TBD).

Further Instructions:  Collect wooden chairs from garage sales, rummage sales, curbside trash, donations, etc. Use your imagination to “upcycle” it and give it new life.  The finished product may be a functioning chair or a chair sculpture. You may disassemble, reassemble, add to or subtract from the original chair using one or more mediums including paint, fabric, yarn, paper, hardware, etc.  Materials to be provided by the artist. NEED some IDEAS. . .  Google it.  “Upcycled” “Recycled” or “Repurposed” Chairs.

Important dates:

June 9, 2018—Kick-off for press and public at the Old Art Building includes chair registration, chair adoptions and painting demos.
August 1—Deadline to register chairs
August 6-10—Drop off chair entry (location and time TBD)
August 12—“Parade of Chairs” display and public sale at the Old Art Building
