Albert Handell lives and paints in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and teaches nationally and internationally. For a period of fifteen years, 1960-1975, Albert Handell’s pastels were included in every book published on pastels in the U.S.A. His pastels enjoy international reputation. In 1987, The Pastel Society of America elected him into the Pastel Hall of Fame, making him one of three living artists so honored. In 2000, the Pastel Society of the West Coast honored him by electing to give him their first, ever, Lifetime Achievement Award for Pastel. He is well known for his Painting Workshops, which he conducts nationwide and abroad.  Since 1961, he has exhibited annually and has received over seventy prizes and awards. Mr. Handell now exhibits with the Ventana Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where, since 1987, he has had annual one-man shows.

Join Albert Handell in this exciting 5 day indoor/outdoor painting workshop. In the morning demonstration you will see and learn what to select and emphasize and what to play down or even take out of your paintings in order to make a strong design statement, and work sensibly towards finish. It will be an opportunity to see how a Master Artist works in a studio setting and on location.  Cost: $750

The workshop hours are from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily.
For your convenience the studio opens at 9AM

  • Demonstrations in the morning from 9:30AM to noon (2 demos are in oils and 2 in pastel)
  • 1-4:30PM- painting on location, weather permitting, with Albert’s help at the easel
