The Leelanau Community Cultural Center will Host and Opening Reception for the 2018 Artist in Residence Megan Hildebrandt on Friday June 22 from 5 – 8 pm at the Old Art Building. The exhibit will
continue Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday 12 – 4 pm.
Her exhibit tiled My Time Is Yours is an exhibition that will explore autobiography, the passage of time, illness narrative and recovery from trauma via repetitive marks, abstracted drawings and paintings, and animation. The element of time is essential to both the 2D imagery and animations. In My Time Is Yours , the artist attempts to recover time lost to cancer treatment, and to track time and development of a new self and her young child. The works serve as touchstones to mark a life both interrupted and reinvigorated. My Time Is Yours will be comprised of medium and large-scale drawings, paintings, and projected animations.
Megan Hildebrandt received her BFA from the Stamps School of Art & Design in 2006, and her MFA in Studio Art from the University of South Florida in 2012. Hildebrandt has exhibited nationally and internationally, including: The Painting Center, New American Paintings, The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Museum of Contemporary Craft, Arlington Arts Center, Detroit Contemporary, HEREarts Center, Latitude 53, Johns Hopkins Medical Center, the LIVESTRONG Foundation, and the Michigan Institute of Contemporary Art.
An artist, educator, cancer survivor and arts-in-health advocate,
Hildebrandt currently lives and works in Interlochen, Michigan where she teaches Painting, Digital Media and Outreach at Interlochen Fine Arts Boarding Academy.
